Position: Government Grants Lead

About this Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Government Grants Lead to oversee and manage high-dollar, multi-step federal pre-award grant applications. You’ll be a key player in our mission to support our clients in securing vital funding to create healthier communities. Your leadership will be essential in producing competitive proposals that meet strict government standards while inspiring funders to invest in our clients’ transformative initiatives.
Team Leadership

Lead a team of grant writers in the production of multiple federal government pre-award grant proposals, ensuring cohesive and persuasive submissions.

Build relationships within the local healthcare community, federal funding agencies, and key stakeholders, championing SGR’s mission of community support.

Establish project timelines, assign tasks, track milestones, and ensure deadlines are met.

Organize and facilitate regular grant meetings with clients and team members to gather information, provide updates, and ensure smooth progress.

Oversee the submission of final proposals, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a polished presentation.
Grant Writing

Collaborate with the grant writing team to develop clear, impactful narratives that meet strict government guidelines.

Serve as the executive editor, ensuring all grant components are polished and meet the highest standards of excellence.

Ensure cohesive and compelling final proposals by coordinating and integrating contributions from multiple authors.

Tailor proposals based on insights gained from previously awarded applications and government reviewer preferences.
Relationship Management + Outreach

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them design grant programs aligned with their goals and available funding.

Act as a liaison between clients, SGR, and stakeholders, including external reviewers and evaluators.

Provide clients with technical support for grant-related databases and submission portals, fostering strong partnerships and positive outcomes.

Contribute to our Learning Lab by creating educational content such as blog posts, videos, and social media resources on grant writing.

Represent SGR at healthcare conferences, networking events, and relevant trainings.

Support the CEO on discovery sales calls by conducting grant readiness and needs assessments for potential clients.

Salary Range: $36,400 to $41,600 based on a 20-hour week. Hybrid (1-2x a month in office) Remote Flexible Hours, Monday through Friday between 10 am and 4pm.

About You

Currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Prince George's County, Maryland.

Possess and able to demonstrate strong technical writing and grantsmanship skills.

A bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Non-Profit Management, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in the healthcare or public health sector.

At least five (5) years of experience in managing federal pre-award grant applications, including a minimum of two (2) years in a leadership role.
-
Proven success in securing large-scale federal grants ($1m) in the healthcare, public health, or health equity sectors.
-
Proven ability to work effectively and lead in a remote, asynchronous team environment.
-
Certifications such as GPC, CGMS, or CFRE are a plus.

About this Opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Grants Team Leader to enhance our grant proposal processes and expand our capacity to secure crucial funding for our clients. This role will be pivotal in refining and expanding our grant proposal operations and focus on managing smaller-scale corporate, foundation, and government grants for established clients. You’ll independently handle accounts and lead a team of writers to craft high-quality, competitive applications. Through thoughtful collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and writers, you will support health centers and other nonprofits in securing funding to promote healthier communities. Key deliverables include:

Relationship Management

Cultivate strong client relationships to understand their needs and assist in program strategy and design.

Act as the primary liaison between SGR and clients, providing excellent customer care and leading strategic initiatives.

Maintain positive ties with local healthcare community, funding agencies, and stakeholders, upholding SGR's commitment to community health.

Grant Writing
-
Write up to two high-quality grant proposals monthly, from inception to submission.
-
Serve as a project manager and executive editor to the team for up to three projects per month.

Craft compelling narratives tailored to grant guidelines and insights from past successes

Team Leadership + Administration
-
Lead a team of grant writers, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to SGR’s Standards of Excellence.

Serve as executive editor for final documents, maintaining high standards of accuracy and presentation.

Promote team development through regular meetings, feedback, and training.

Collaborate with the CEO on discovery calls to assess potential clients’ readiness and needs for grants.

Contribute to SGR’s Learning Lab with quarterly educational content aimed at enhancing grant writing skills within the nonprofit sector.
